FLIP CRUT

The Flip CRUT is a hybrid between the SCRUT and either the NIMCRUT or the IOCRUT. It allows a donor to "flip" the structure of a CRUT from a NIMCRUT or an IOCRUT to a SCRUT, upon the occurrence of a triggering event. The triggering event must be designated in the trust agreement, and must be a "specific date or a single event whose occurrence is not discretionary with, or within the control of, the trustees or any other persons. Examples of qualifying triggering events include marriage, divorce, death, birth of a child, or the sale of an unmarketable asset such as real estate.
