tax table
A term to know.
A table used by a taxpayer to compute taxes based upon taxable income. For example, for calendar year 2007 the IRS created tables for computing taxes for an individual with taxable income less than $100,000 who is filing as single, married filing jointly, married filing separately, and head of household. See IRS Publication 17 and the instructions to Form 1040 for these tables.
