A term to know.
A projection of receipts, outlays, and other budget amounts that would continue to exist in the future if existing spending and revenue policies do not change. Within the context of proposed legislation, these projections are used to gauge the extent to which a bill, if enacted into law, would alter current spending and revenue levels.
