ascertainable standard
A term to know.
A condition or standard that restricts the discretionary power of a trustee to make distributions of trust property. The restriction or standard must be sufficiently explicit so that a beneficiary can compel the trustee to make or refrain from making distribution. The most common standards are "health, education, maintenance and support."
